On October 13th, just after lunch, someone from Reston VA did a Google Search for "artis brazee". They found, among other things, my Blog. They spent about 8 minutes on "thoughts from the wrong side of the brain" and viewed every page of my Blog, now almost 80 posts. Their IP address was the Department of State, which is located in Reston. The other famous place in Reston is the CIA.
Why would the Department of State be interested in my Blog? It seems they were interested in my travel.
They must have found my receipt for the turban, Damn!

ReplyDeleteI clicked through to here from my stats, I saw the State Dept title and had to come read. I get visited by them all the time too. I don't know if it's even a real person because it is so perfunctory, I post they come on a few days a week and all the new posts are clicked. It might be something searching for links or keywords, or it is some poor schlub who has to read blogs for security sake altho I am as harmless as it gets. Back when I started my blog I had a great comment from a nice person in an embattled country. I won't say which to spare another state dept visit to see why the word showed up here. Maybe links from certain countries are always followed and then just routinely run to check for incoming outgoing links. I would understand in this day and age if they did it. I just hope if it's a real person they have some fun in all the bloggerly reading they have to do :)

Now I really don't know what the CIA or the State Dept. would want with two Bolivian bloggers dedicated to the dissemination of Bolivian literature and universal jazz throughout the blogosphere...
I clicked on the "state.gov" link,and it took me directly to the U.S. Department of State website.
Then I googled US Dept. of State and blogspots and found your blog. Apparently, these people check on U.S. citizens (forgive me for not saying "Americans" as I am a South American) and Bolivians, and others alike. Hmmm... strange.
LaLola - interesting...Bolivian literature must be subversive and dangerous. (Actually, congratulations on what's going on in your country right now. The elections are wonderful and, from what I read, everything is looking up.)

Let me tell you that Bolivian literature could be a bit more subversive and stronger in views and stands, but it isn't. Many Bolivian writers have chosen the path of self-exile in the U.S. through applying for posts as associate professors at colleges of note i.e. Cornell, etc. Now they write for the U.S. market and we simply don't think they represent our reality. But I digress.
